Chick, break your eggshell and come out

Such commemoration ceremonies as “XX anniversary of invention” are often held in US, the nation which is both in name and in reality a superpower in science and technology. They are very talented in promoting these events to national level events, probably owing to their national traits of loving jubilation and merrymaking.
The 25th anniversary of transistor invention was one of those cases. They held a panel discussion event which is also mentioned in the previous section, and set a special commemorating booth, titled, “Solid State Innovations and Application Center” at the “IEEE Intercontinental” which was held in March, 1973.
The replica of point contact transistor invented for the first time in the world, the selected semiconductor application products and so on were widely exhibited. The scene was just like representing "Transistor-American Miracle" which was written in bold letters on the exhibition panel showing transistor’s great social contribution.
The famous photograph of BBS Trio gathering together at the time of invention was largely closed up on another panel, and the handwriting by Shockley, "I hope you can break away and come," appealed to the event visitors. This handwriting was translated as "Chick, break your eggshell and come out." - "Hina-yo, kara-wo yabutte detekoi," in Japanese by Makoto Kikuchi who was a friend of Shockley.
