One of the developers of microprocessor, Masatoshi Shima published a book titled, “Birth of Microprocessor
- 4004, Passion of My Youth” from Iwanami Shoten, Publishers in August 1987. To celebrate this publication, the party was held at a hotel in Tokyo in December 1987. There were nine promotors of the party, including Junichi Nishizawa, Tadashi Sasaki and Matami Yasufuku. I was also one of the promotors.

Shima made a speech to nearly 400 participants by starting, “I have kept running and running in these 10 years”, and continued, “The luck for me was that I could keep moving to accumulate my own technology and expertise from 4 bit, 8 bit to 16 bit. To be honest, it was very tough to run ahead of others in US. I always had to persuade others in order to let them understand my idea.” He put all the participants in laughter by saying, “Thanks to these experiences, I came to be a strong debater in English.”
